Fire alarm system is designed to help in detecting fire, heat or smoke and to alert straight away the occupants of the building for evacuation. There are two kinds of fire alarm systems, regular fire alarm system and addressable fire alarm system.

The control panel is the “brain” of the fire detection and alarm system. It is responsible for observing the various “input” devices such as manual call point (MCP) and automatic detection pieces like heat detectors, smoke detectors, and then operating alarm “output” devices for e.g. horns, bells, warning lights, emergency telephone dialers, and building controls. Control panels may vary from simple units with a single input and output zone, to complex computer-driven systems that monitor multiple buildings over an entire plant.
